Are you with your partner or friends, and it's time to take a well-deserved break after exploring the Danish capital ?

Here in this blog, we'll tell you about the 3 most beautiful terraces to enjoy the Danish summer with good food and incredible cocktails.

Yes, we know!

The capital of Denmark is beautiful this time of year. And it's a great plan to go for a few drinks outdoors in such beautiful weather! What better way to enjoy the best company, good food, and incredible views than with three rooftops you'll love while you're in the city.

1 - CITIZEN M

The Citizen M hotel has an incredible central location across from City Hall Square (Radhuspladsen) and is just minutes from the most popular amusement park, Tivoli Gardens. On the top floor, there's a combined reception, lounge, and bar called CanteenM, where you can enjoy the iconic City Hall and watch the city in motion along Boulevard HC Andersen. Upon arrival, simply take the elevator to the 7th floor and enjoy the outdoor terrace! It's open until 10 PM!

2 - Illum

At the top of the Illum shopping center, located right on the famous Strøget pedestrian street, is the Illum Rooftop, one of the most popular terraces in the city.

On the 4th floor, you'll find a combination of restaurants, bars, a café, a market, and you can sit down and enjoy cocktails both indoors and outdoors. Of course, if you're in the mood for dinner or a light bite, you have options like Skagen Fiskerestaurant (fresh fish and seafood), Rossopomodoro (Napoletano pasta and pizza), or Palæo (salads with fresh ingredients)!

The views from up there are some of the best in the city!

3 - Scandic NØRREPORT

Recently opened in 2022, the Level 6 - Rooftop Bar at the Scandic Hotel is located across from the heart of the Danish city: Nørreport train station! Whether you're enjoying a delicious coffee or a good old-fashioned, this terrace is our place in the world.

You can even see some of the city's attractions, like the Round Tower, and don't forget to ask about the schedule because you might find a DJ and even a stand-up comedian. Keep in mind the restaurant's hours are from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and the bar's hours are from 12 p.m. to midnight. We recommend making a reservation!

Tips to keep in mind

  • Dinner is served early in Denmark! The normal dinner time for many Danes is from 6:00 PM (6:00 PM), so peak restaurant hours are usually from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM (6:00 PM to 8:00 PM).

If possible, book in advance. When you make your reservation, you usually have a table for two hours; this is usually indicated when you receive your confirmation.

  • If you tend to eat late, most restaurants close their kitchens at 10:00 PM (10:00 PM), so the last orders generally have to arrive around 9:00 PM / 9:30 PM (9:00 PM / 9:30 PM). After that, the bar is usually open until midnight.

  • After 10:00 PM, mostly only fast food places are open. Think McDonald's and kebab shops or even hotdog stands!
