About the tour

Discover the beating heart of Danish history and statehood inside the magnificent Christiansborg Palace—the only building in the world housing all three branches of a nation's government alongside grand royal chambers. Accompanied by an expert local guide, step straight inside with pre-reserved entry tickets and immerse yourself in centuries of royal grandeur. Walk through the opulent Royal Reception Rooms still used by the Danish Monarchy for official banquets and receptions, stand in the historic Throne Room, and marvel at the famous Great Hall tapestries depicting 1,000 years of Nordic history. A concentrated, fascinating journey into royalty, power, and art.

Itinerary

Your 1.5-hour experience begins at the main entrance of Christiansborg Palace, where you’ll meet your guide and bypass the lines with your pre-reserved entry tickets. Step straight into the opulent Royal Reception Rooms, where centuries of Danish royal history come alive through stories of state banquets, royal traditions, and modern diplomacy. As you walk through lavishly decorated halls, you’ll visit the Queen's Library and the spectacular Throne Room—the iconic setting from which new Danish monarchs are proclaimed to the public.

The highlight of the journey takes place in the Great Hall, home to the famous tapestries by artist Bjørn Nørgaard. Here, your guide will decode the vivid, monumental artworks chronicling 1,000 years of Nordic and world history. The guided portion concludes comfortably inside the palace, leaving you perfectly positioned to continue exploring the Tower (free access), the Royal Kitchens, or the Royal Stables at your own pace.
